2-day Intro to Whitewater Kayaking for Women
Learn the art of kayaking in a supportive environment of like-minded
women. Challenge and stretch yourself while discovering the joy
of paddling! Paddling is about learning to merge with and work
with the water, rather than struggling against it. Women often
shine at this sport!
All equipment is provided. In two days, we cover everything you
need to know to get a good start in whitewater kayaking-for only
$229.00!
Day 1 you will
Be fitted
with a kayak, spray skirt, paddle, helmet and PFD (personal floatation
device)
Learn about
the kayak, equipment, and the language of kayaking
Gain an understanding
of safety procedures and learn about hazards
Learn the foundational
skills required to become proficient
Practice on
the water, where you will be most all afternoon
Have FUN!
Learning
happens best when it is FUN!
Day 2 you will
Review on
the water all the strokes and techniques learned on Day 1
Paddle a section
of the Delaware River (where some easy, but real rapids exist)
Watch and discuss
demonstrations of new skills - then practice
Hone your new
skills in real eddies and with the added dimension of current
Learn how to
read and navigate the river as safely as you can
Become acquainted
with whitewater language and river features
Some of the cool things you will learn are

learning how to get out of the kayak easily when necessary

to stay upright!

a kayak
How to paddle
straight
Correction
or steering strokes
Eddy Turns
